The border design consists of vignettes of a castle and other buildings, with two men fishing in the foreground, surrounded by inteertwined lead stems and separated by a net-like pattern. The central design is not known The pattern name derives from an incomplete mark, but Kulat appears to be the complete name for reasons of symmetry (Brassey and Macready 1994: 41, 53 Fig. 22 C8, 61 Fig. 30d).
MP: This design is not recorded by Coysh and Henrywood (1984,1989). The design title was identified from a pattern mark retrieved from the Victoria Hotel assemblage. The border design includes vignettes that depict a castle, with two men fishing in the foreground. These scenes are encompassed by ?entwined leaf stems [which are] separated by a net like pattern? (Brassey and Macready 1994:41). The central scene of this design remains unknown. |
