This database does not attempt a comprehensive description of these potteries but concentrates on those identified on ceramics in New Zealand historic sites. Description: Fenton Potteries, Fenton, Staffordshire; 1839-1932 (Godden 1968:175). Coysh and Henrywood (1989:24) describe the products of this particular firm as ?the commoner class of printed, sponged and granite wares? intended primarily for overseas markets. One transfer-printed mark that read ?William Baker? was present on a green transfer-printed ashet (pattern HM281)Source: Godden 1991:51
