PROJECT NOTES
This database is based on work carried out by Clough
and Associates Ltd on the Britomart Transport Project in
downtown Auckland, New Zealand. The ceramics recovered from this
site comprised a substantial collection of late Victorian ceramics
in a major colonial city. Mica Plowman carried out the analysis.
Once the Britomart information was entered, information from previous
excavations was added. The availability and quality of information
on these sites is variable but the goals of the project are to
add as much data as possible from historic sites in New Zealand.
The project is based on PHP and MySQL technologies. It is primarily
designed as a searchable image library to aid the identification
of ceramic patterns for NZ archaeologists.

Details regarding the classification of ceramic data will be available
here.
Information regarding the database and improvements will be added
to this part of the site. Suggestions and bug fixes can be sent
to Simon Bickler.
Future releases in development include:
- Additional information from recent North Island
projects
- More data from older excavations
- Automated standard reports including graphs
